Hi All I am trying to show you how easy it is to commute by bike daily. We all have to look good at work. My daily routine to get ready for work is pretty simple. First thing I do is shower and get myself dressed in riding clothes. I usually dress in sports clothes- something that I can sweat in and feel comfortable in. In the summer this usually means just a T-shirt and shorts. In winter I layer, to allow me to better control my body temperature. Then I pack up my work clothes.
Here you can see a picture of what I wore the other day. I generally take an undershirt, a dress shirt, a nice pair of slacks, a pair of socks, and an extra pair of underwear. I fold them up nicely and then I pack them into my Ortleib pannier, to avoid wrinkles.
I usually leave my dress shoes, jacket and my belt at work. This just simplifies what I have to take back and forth every day.
Once I get to work, I put on some extra armpit deodorant, and wipe down any extra sweat before changing my clothes in the bathroom. I usually like to change my underwear as well. Where I live right now, the mornings are generally not too warm and I can get away with this.
The clothes that I biked in with get put back into a bag and then I put the whole thing in the pannier again.
That is it. There is really very little effort, and the freedom of riding a bike makes the miniscule extra effort so worth it.
A pro tip: Leave a clean backup pair of underwear, pants, socks and a nice shirt at work.
